When preparing your CV, always keep in mind that your CV is a critical marketing tool that will either secure you an interview or not. It's that simple, first impressions are crucial, so do spend time in drafting and presenting this essential document.
A CV should not exceed 4 pages and ideally no more than 2.
- Begin with your name and contact details.
- Educational details should follow and then work experience displayed in reverse chronological order.
- Check dates are accurate and there are no spelling or punctuation mistakes. Experienced Technical professionals should consider enclosing a skills matrix ideally on the front page. This is best presented in a simple table format indicating technical skills and number of years experience using that particular technology.
- A CV should be clear concise and easily legible. Remember employers are time conscious and may have numerous CVs to sift through, if yours appears unstructured or difficult to read it might not be given the same attention.
